Colorist

Compositionalist

In my early years of growing up before I took up painting, I would create compositions from nature. I would take a branch from the woods and cut shapes out of the leaves. In a way, this was the beginning of my investigation into shapes and composition.

Growing up I had two major influencial forces. First being my Father who was employed by the Military Air Force and my mother who was devoted to the Roman Catholic church. Being surrounded my military tools of war while also engaging with religion granted me a conceptual foundation that shapes my work.

I align my style with a heavy emphasis on composition and vibrant colors. I construct my paintings with bold shapes and linear expressions. I strive to achieve a playfulness between crisp / tight and loose / whimsical. I believe the juxtaposition of my upbringing mirrors the technical juxtaposition in my works.

Pre-internet, I spent a lot of time alone painting and creating art in my room. This was because I would move from city to city and have to re-adjust to my surroundings.

I have exhibited in various cities around Canada such as Ottawa, Montreal, Victoria, Squamish, Whistler and Campbell River. I am excited to grow my fan base and to display my work in more galleries across Canada and ultimately the world.
